Welcome to the Australian Athletics Officiating Page. Becoming an official is easy. Please click below to get involved today! Officiating for most begins at local state meets, and for some, it can take you all the way to the Olympic Games.
To start your officiating journey head to World Athletics Education Hub. Below is the World Athletics Pathway for Officials.
Officiating Athletics competitions is flexible and fun. Officials can attend as many or as few events based on their circumstances. Even if you are only able to come to one or two events per year or help out once a month, there is an opportunity for you to be a part of the officiating community. Contact: competitions@athletics.org.au for more information.
As a team, Australian officials not only deliver National Championships and high profile one day meetings in Australia, but also large scale international events. In recent times, they have delivered; the athletics component of the 2000 Sydney Olympic and Paralympic Games, the 2001 World Athletics Final, the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. As individuals, a number of Australian officials have been recognised on World Athletics and World Para Athletics officiating panels. These officials are often involved in major competitions around the world.
Australian Athletics will provide more information on Officiating Mentors available in the coming weeks.
