Australian Athletics has partnered with Pride in Sport and Proud 2 Play to ensure all Australians have a place in athletics.
Australian Athletics has zero-tolerance for anyone that shows or displays homophobic/transphobic/biphobic/interphobic specific bullying, harassment and/or vilification within the sport be that on or off the track.
Pride in Sport is Australia’s National Sporting inclusion program which helps sporting organisations and clubs benchmark inclusion of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI+) employees, participants, volunteers and spectators.
This means improving all aspects of LGBTI+ inclusion, achieving best practice as benchmarked by the Pride in Sport Index and creating better health outcomes for LGBTI+ participants and fans through creating inclusive spaces which remove homophobia, stigma and discrimination.
Australian Athletics has participated in the annual Pride in Sport Index for a number of years and is currently recognised at the Bronze level within the Index for the period 2023-2026. We previously achieved bronze level recognition in 2021 and silver in 2022.

Proud 2 Play work with all levels of the Athletics community, from individual participants and grassroots communities.
We continue to encourage LGBTI+ people (as well as their allies, friends and families) to participate and engage in Athletics and exercise by providing structured opportunities and pathways for them to do so.
