BIOGRAPHY

There’re very few superlatives left to describe the brilliance of Evan’s career.

But he will have a chance to add to his impressive resume with his selection for a sixth World Para Athletics Championships in Paris in July 2023.

Last year at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, he added another achievement, defending his T38 100m title won on the Gold Coast in 2018.

Evan’s last global appearance was at the Tokyo Paralympics, where he won a seventh medal, when finishing third in the T38 100m. It was his fourth Paralympic Games which have included five gold medals when he claimed 100m/200m doubles in both Beijing and London as well as the 4x100m relay in Beijing.
In Rio his golden run ceased when China’s Hu Jianwen clocked 10.74 to push Evan (10.98) into silver and take his world record.

His World Championships achievements are equally outstanding. Evan has previously been to five world titles (2006 Assen, 2011 Christchurch, 2013 Lyon, 2017 London, 2019 Dubai) and has 12 medals – 8 of them gold.
Somewhere in between all those medal ceremonies, Evan found time to pursue the Bobsleigh event in winter sport while living with his Czech wife Zuzana in Europe.

He suffered a serious foot injury in 2020 but the following February Evan became a dual-sport international as the pilot of the Australian two-man bobsled at the 2021 Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships in Altenberg, Germany.
