World Championships Entry Lists now online

The provisional entry list for the IAAF World Championships London 2017, which take place from 4-13 August in the British capital, is now available.

The entries, as at 29 July, are now available via the athletes page on the IAAF World Championships London 2017 mini-site where users can search and browse all 2034 athletes from more than 200 teams. The lists are also available to download as PDF documents listing entries by event and season's best [download | view] and entries by event [download | view].

Official start lists will become available after the technical meeting which takes place on Thursday, 3 August at 18:00 in London.

Team Australia will be 62-strong, the biggest team ever to wear the green and gold at a world championships event, and an unprecedented amount in a post-Olympic year. The previous biggest was the team of 54 which competed in Seville in 1999 and the 2017 squad of athletes comfortably trumps the team of 44 that competed in Beijing in 2015.

With 17 debutants in the team, a further 20 athletes will be competing after making their debut at Rio 2016. A young team by comparison, many athletes will still learning rigours of an open age major championships.

In a sign that bodes well for the Olympic cycle, London 2017 will provide Team Australia the perfect preparation Tokyo 2020 and the continued the momentum that began with 40 debutants at Rio 2016.

For those developing, London will be the ideal preparation for 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, where there are already 70 athletes who have posted ‘A’ qualifiers, with this number expected to grow at the championships.
