International apparel giant PUMA and Athletics Australia are delighted to announce a four-year partnership commencing in 2021.

The largest apparel partnership in Athletics Australia history will see Australian athletes compete in PUMA apparel during international competitions until 2024, excluding the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and Commonwealth Games.

Athletics Australia joins AFL powerhouses Richmond Football Club and Carlton Football Club as part of the PUMA family, alongside the Melbourne Vixens and Melbourne City F.C.

General Manager of PUMA Oceania, Pancho Gutstein, said this is another exciting step for PUMA to help the next generation of superstars.

“We’re proud to partner with Athletics Australia for the next four years and add them to our growing family of sport partnerships,” Gutstein said.

“Australia has a stable of elite and emerging athletes who will shine on the world stage over the coming years.

“We’re looking forward to supporting them pursue their dreams by providing the highest quality competition apparel.”

PUMA’s heritage runs deep with athletics, with PUMA shoes worn by racial justice icons Tommie Smith and John Carlos at the 1968 Olympics Games during their iconic 200 metre final and Black Power Salute for equality.

PUMA has also supported Usain Bolt since 2005, with him every step of the way to claim eight Olympic Gold Medals, and currently sponsors Australian track and field athletes including Anneliese Rubie-Renshaw, Nicola McDermott, Ella Nelson, Michelle Jenneke and Henry Smith.

Athletics Australia CEO, Darren Gocher, said the partnership is testament to the strength of the organisation.

“Being able to bring this significant deal together in the midst of a global pandemic demonstrates the strength and value of Athletics Australia to commercial partners,” Gocher said.

“PUMA joins Coles, Accor Hotels, FOX Sports, Commonwealth Games Australia, REHYDR8, the Australian Institute of Sport and the University of Melbourne as part of our major partner family in 2021.”

“We look forward to driving solid commercial and brand outcomes for PUMA over the next four years.”

From January 1 2021, fans and supporters will be able to purchase official PUMA apparel and accessories at official merchandise stores at Athletics Australia events across the country.
