Join the Aussies in London 2017

Ashton Eaton’s world record-breaking performance in the decathlon, Allyson Felix winning her ninth World Championships gold in the 400m, Julius Yego’s inspirational victory in the javelin throw and of course Usain Bolt charging to victory in the 100m, 200m and the 4x100m relay. These were just some of the highlights that shaped the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing.

Among the 80,000 spectators inside The Bird’s Nest, a passionate, cheerful bunch of 60 Australians that were travelling with the Aussie Aths Fans Supporters’ Tour, saw each of these unforgettable moments live.

Now, as the IAAF World Championships head to London in 2017, the Aussies are planning to be another vocal assault inside the London Olympic Stadium.

Beijing was the inaugural Aussie Aths Fans Supporters’ Tour and was a sensational experience for Australian track and field lovers and families of Australian team members competing.

The group came together to enjoy a wonderful 10 days of athletics, sightseeing and cultural activities in the Chinese capital. Enjoying world class athletics action with an ‘all sessions’ ticket in a group seating block that would have otherwise been unavailable to Australian fans, the tour created memories of a lifetime.

“We couldn’t possibly knock back the chance to be involved in an exciting trip to our first World Champs,” Anna Frayne, mother of Australian long jumper, Henry Frayne said.

“Aside from the fabulous athletics we experienced over the nine days, we really enjoyed meeting like-minded Aussies with a connection to aths, and equally loved exploring ancient Beijing and its people.”

Building upon this, Athletics Australia has partnered with Jump Media & Marketing and Mummu Sport to present a tours program that will ensure a large supporters’ contingent in the stands to cheer on our Aussie athletes when they take on the world’s best, starting with the IAAF World Championships in London in August, 2017.

Jump Media and Marketing is a sports marketing agency, led by dual athletics Olympian David Culbert, with an extensive background and involvement in the sport of athletics. Mummu Sport are leaders in sports related travel and logistics, including as an official partner of the A.S.O. – right holders to some of the biggest cycling races in Europe, including the Tour de France, Vuelta a Espana and Paris Roubaix.

There are two great package options on offer for the IAAF World Championships in London from 4 – 13 August, 2017:

  • a land only package; and
  • a land and flights package.

Plus organisers are able to cater for individual travel requirements for those looking for an extended trip outside of the 10 day tour. The selected hotel is in a great location with plenty to see and do (and eat and drink) in the immediate vicinity, plus the nearby station is on the central line for easy travel to the stadium each day. We have accessed some excellent accommodation rates, better than what you can access via direct bookings. Plus of course, we have also secured the all-important championship tickets for the tour group, without having to take our chances in the public ballot.
