Kurtis Marschall (SA) will take to the runway in qualifying of the men’s pole vault in his world championships debut with confidence that he can make it through to the final.
The reigning national champion who narrowly missed out on a place in the Rio Olympic final last year has already made an impressive debut this season on the world stage in the Diamond League.
At the meeting in Lausanne early last month, competing against the likes of French 2012 Olympic champion Renaud Lavillenie, the 20-year-old placed fourth setting a new personal best of 5.73 metres.
The 20-year-old is tipped as an athlete capable of competing for a medal in the future since making big strides in his development after taking silver at the world junior championships last year in Poland.
On the track in the women’s 400m three-time national
The semi-finalist from the Rio Olympics has had mixed form overseas since making an impressive start to the domestic season but is more than capable of advancing beyond the heats.
Jess Trengove (SA) is one of three Australian women who take to the roads of London in the second marathon race on day three at the IAAF World Athletics Championships.
A bronze medallist
The 25-year-old who placed eleventh in hot conditions at the Moscow world championships in 2013 will toe the line just a week out from her birthday.
Trengove will be joined on the start line by Sinead Diver (Vic) and Milly Clark (NSW) who will make her world championships debut after placing 18th at the Rio Olympics last year.
In the men’s race Brad Milosevic (NSW) heads an Australian trio, all making their first senior appearances in green and gold, with the fastest personal best of 2:16.00 set two years ago.
Tasmanian runner Josh Harris and Jack Colreavy (NSW) also feature in the race after they both posted personal bests at this year's Lake Biwa Marathon in Japan to qualify for the championships.
Both women competing in the women’s javelin, Kathryn Mitchell (Vic) and Kelsey-Lee Roberts (ACT), will have expectations of qualifying for the final in London after showing good form in Europe.
Mitchell recently threw a personal best of 66.12m to place third in the Lausanne IAAF Diamond League, while Roberts improved her career best to 64.38m at this stadium last month.

Also competing on day three will be Stewart McSweyn (Tas) in the 3000m steeplechase and Nicholas Hough (NSW) who features in the heats of the 110m hurdles.
