Athletics Australia is pleased to confirm the appointment of Qantas executive and former Australian representative Catriona Larritt to its Board of Directors, following her formal appointment after the Annual General Meeting today.
With over 25 years of leadership experience in strategy, commercial operations and digital transformation, Larritt brings a wealth of expertise that will further strengthen Athletics Australia’s ability to deliver on its strategic priorities.
Larritt currently works as Qantas Group’s Chief Customer and Digital Officer, leading advancements in customer engagement through digital channels while ensuring cybersecurity and regulatory compliance. Her distinguished career also includes managing the Group’s air freight business, where she was accountable for all commercial, digital and operational functions.
Larritt’s board experience is equally impressive, having served as a Director of LaunchVic for six years, helping to grow Victoria’s tech start-up ecosystem. She was also a former Commissioner for Suncorp Super League Netball, where she gained insights into high performance pathways, commercialisation and stakeholder management.
“Coming off a highly successful Olympics, Paralympics and World Under 20 Championships, Australian athletics is in a fantastic position and it’s exciting to join the Board at such an exciting time. With Brisbane 2032 on the horizon, I’m looking forward to helping build on the momentum focusing on both performance and commercial success to ensure the sport continues to thrive,” Larritt said.
“With my experience in customer engagement and digital innovation, I’m eager to contribute to the growth agenda of athletics. The goal is to help build the organisation, ensuring it reaches new audiences and strengthens its position both nationally and internationally.”
Beyond her professional achievements, Larritt has a deep personal connection to athletics, having competed for 15 years representing both Victoria and Australia at a junior level in the 400m hurdles and looks forward to being able to contribute to the sport in which she believes has set her up for success in life.
“Athletics was hugely important to me as a child and young adult and I still run today. I’ve been the beneficiary of the hard work of so many volunteers from coaches to officials, and now I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to give back and help ensure the sport thrives for future generations,” Larritt said.
Athletics Australia President Jane Flemming welcomed Larritt to the Board, citing her unique skillset as an important addition to the Board at a pivotal time for Australian athletics.
“We are delighted to have Catriona join the Athletics Australia Board as the sport enters a new phase of growth, innovation and world class achievement.
“Her extensive leadership experience and deep understanding of digital transformation will be instrumental as we continue to navigate the evolving landscape of our sport and we believe Catriona’s background in both corporate and high performance environments makes her the perfect fit for our board.
“We look forward to the impact she will make as we take the next steps on the runway to Brisbane 2032 and beyond.”
