The IAAF World Under 20 Championships campaign of Australia’s 55-strong athletics team has been outstanding.
Set to return home with a trio of silver medals to Kurtis Marschall (SA, pole vault), Kirsty Williams (Qld, discus) and Alex Hulley (NSW, hammer throw), as well as a bronze for Darcy Roper (Qld, long jump), the team also delivered a further seven top-eight performances to ensure their position among the top-ten nations on the IAAF Placing Table.
Thirteen athletes improved their personal bests at Bydgoszcz 2016, while pre-championship competition in Mannheim (GER) saw Jack Hale (Tas, 100m) and Kurtis Marschall (SA, pole vault) eclipse the Australian under 20 records of their events
