Australian Half Marathon Championship Titles to be postponed

Athletics Australia has announced that the Australian Half Marathon Championship titles due to take place in conjunction with the Sunshine Coast Marathon on August 15 has been postponed.
Athletics Australia CEO Peter Bromley said the decision was made due to COVID-19 impacting interstate travel, limiting the amount of participants competing for the titles.
“Unfortunately the continued spread of COVID-19 and travel restrictions has meant that we have had to postpone the Australian Half Marathon Championship titles until further notice,” Bromley said.
“The majority of our athletes who were scheduled to compete were travelling interstate, which means the national titles on offer are unviable. We understand the importance of this event, and we’ll endeavour to hold the event later in the year when participants are able to travel.
“We’d like to thank our friends at the Sunshine Coast Marathon for all their work and support on these Championships. We’d like to wish them all the very best for their event which is still going ahead, and we look forward to bringing these Championships back to Queensland next year, at a safer time for all.”
