AUSTRALIAN ATHLETES AT THE 2019 PACIFIC GAMES

Athletics Australia is proud to welcome the announcement by the Australian Olympic Committee that seven athletes and three officials from athletics have been welcomed onto the team to represent Australia at the Pacific Games.
The Pacific Games is a multi-sport event, with participation exclusively from countries around the South Pacific Ocean, they are on this year in July in Samoa.

Athletics Australia Head of High Performance and Coaching Christian Malcolm said that the selected athletes have all been tactically chosen with the to aim to qualify for Tokyo 2020.
“The Pacific Games are a great opportunity for our identified athletes to compete against our fellow Oceania athletes in an IAAF Category B competition.
“This level of competition provides these athletes with the opportunity to secure some high level ranking points towards Tokyo 2020 qualification and we thank the Pacific Games and the AOC for supporting our athletes through these Games,” Malcolm said.
The qualifying period for Tokyo 2020 is open from 1 May 2019 to 29 June 2020.
Penny Gillies, Breanne Clement & Philo Saunders have also been selected as team officials for the Pacific Games in Samoa.
