Published Tue 12 Dec 2017

Adam Bishop will take on the role of Interim High Performance Director with Athletics Australia, as Alison Campbell steps down at the end of this week.

Bishop joins Athletics Australia on a six-month secondment from Athletics SA, where he is the CEO. With over a decade of experience in athletics, Bishop brings a wealth of experience and established relationships to the role of Interim High Performance Director.

Athletics Australia CEO, Darren Gocher paid tribute to Campbell’s work over the last 15 months.

“Alison has built strong relationships with all of the bodies we work with and has also overseen large International campaigns, including 2017 London World Championships. Alison has worked closely and collaboratively with athletes, coaches and our states to improve the sport and develop pathways and other programs, and on behalf of everyone at Athletics Australia, wish her well for the future.

“I would also like to thank the Board of Athletics SA for their support of Adam’s secondment.”

A formal process to hire a permanent High Performance Director will begin early in the new year.

Meantime, Andrew Faichney has been appointed Head of Delegation for the upcoming Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and will work closely with Athletics Australia Head Coach, Craig Hilliard. Faichney was previously Athletics Competition Manager for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games and was Head of Delegation for the highly successful 2017 Para Athletics World Championships.
