The following information provides athletes information on the 2023 Australian Selection Trials for the 44th World Cross Country Championships to be held in Bathurst, Australia on Saturday 18 February 2023.

The Selection Trials are the primary selection event for athletes who want to be considered for selection to represent Australia at the World Cross Country Championships.

Issues with entires should be sent to competitions@athletics.org.au before the close of entries so issues can be resolved before the close off time of 5.00pm AEDT.

Entry Process

Entries Australian Athletes: Entries will open on the 1st November 2022 and close on Monday 9th January 2023 at 5.00pm AEDT. The entry fee is $20. Entries have now closed - late entries may be accepted by request - these requests must be made to competitions@athletics.org.au by Tuesday 10th January at 9.00am AEDT. 

Entries Oceania Member Federations: Will be accepted - please email competitions@athletics.org.au - Entries close on Monday 9th January 2023 at 5.00pm AEDT - Entries have now closed. 

Entries from other World Athletics Member Federations: By request - please email competitions@athletics.org.au Entries close on Monday 9th January 2023 at 5.00pm AEDT - Entries have now closed. 

Entry Notes

Note 1: In order to compete in the open trial races athletes must normally be born no later than 2003. In exceptional cases and exemption may be granted at the discretion of the AA Chair of Selectors and the General Manager – Sport Delivery.

*Note 2: In order to compete in the open 2km trial race athletes must normally be born no later than 2005. In exceptional cases and exemption may be granted at the discretion of the AA Chair of Selectors and the General Manager – Sport Delivery.

*Note 3: There will be no minimum entry standard for any of the races. However the General Manager – Sport Delivery reserves the right to decline any entry which they deem inappropriate or unsafe given the intent and nature of the event.

* Note 4: The last lap in all races is 2.5km (those with multi-laps),  if any athlete is lapped at the finish line (with more than a lap to go), then those athletes will be withdrawn from the race.
