Covid Restrictions: Athletics Australia advises all attendees to book refundable flights and accommodation where possible. Athletics Australia will continue to monitor the COVID restrictions and protocols within each State throughout the season; as the safety and wellbeing of all athletes, volunteers, staff and spectators is our highest priority. As part of this process we will continue to review our stance on event attendance and vaccination requirements in line with venue conditions and release updated information as required.
Do I need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend an Athletics Australia meets? From 1 January 2022, all persons aged 16 and over will need to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a valid medical exemption to gain entry to Athletics Australia meets. All attendees (athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, staff, spectators) will need to show their COVID-19 digital certificate on their smart device (as part of the QR Code check in process) OR provide photo identification with a printed immunisation certificate.
When will the vaccination mandate come into effect? Proof of vaccination will be required from 1 January 2022.
What does Athletics Australia consider “full vaccination”? As of 1 January 2022, Athletics Australia considers full vaccination to be two doses of an ATAGI approved COVID-19 vaccination.
What kind of medical exemption will you accept? Official medical exemptions approved by the Chief Public Health Officer will be accepted. Medical exemptions must be provided prior to entry.
When will I have to show my vaccine certificate? Evidence of vaccination is required prior to entry to the venue, during the QR check-in process. What vaccination evidence will be accepted?
Athletics Australia will accept the following as evidence of vaccination status:
• COVID-19 digital certificate displayed on your relevant Government Approved app on your smart device
• A printed copy of your COVID-19 digital certificate with government issued photo identification
• Official medical exemption from COVID-19 vaccination approved by the Chief Public Health Officer with government issued photo identification
