Australian Athletics, in conjunction with the Australian Ultra and Trail Runners' Association (AUTRA) is pleased to release the selection policy and athlete selection nomination form for the 2025 World Mountain and Trail Running Championships to be held in Canfranc-Pirineos, Spain from the 25 - 28 September 2025.
This team provides a national team representative opportunity for mountain and trail running athletes.
This is a fully self-funded team. Selected athletes will be required to organise their own travel to and from Canfranc-Pirineos and will be required to stay with the team in the team accommodation for the duration of the event (more details will be provided to selected athletes). Costs to be met by selected athletes include, but are not limited to airfares, ground transport, accommodation, entry fees, uniforms, and a team levy to cover costs associated with insurance, administration and team support staff.

Selection Policy
The selection policy is now available. Note that it is the sole responsibility of all nominating athletes to ensure they carefully read and understand the selection policy, including an understanding of the eligibility and compliance requirements that apply to team selection.
For clarity, please note that the kunanyi event referenced in the selection policy relating to selection in the mountain events is a vertical downhill event in 2025.
Team Nomination
Nominations for selection are now open. To be considered for selection, nominations must be received by 16:00 (Australian Eastern Daylight Time) on Wednesday 2 April 2025.
The qualifying period commenced on 1 April 2024 and concludes on 31 March 2025.
