BIOGRAPHYElla Hose started her journey in athletics when she was introduced to the idea of ‘para’ sport by a teacher at her school. At age 18, Ella Hose was the youngest female in the Australian team for the 2023 World Para Athletics Championships – her international debut. The Victorian thrower was named in the F37 shot put, placing fourth with a distance of 10.01m and in the discus where she placed sixth with 24.72m. Mid-year she was named in the Australian team for the Paralympic Games to be held in Paris. She will compete in the F37 shot and discus events. Formerly coached by Gus Puopolo, Ella is now under the guidance of John Eden. Advise to your young self: To not get too caught up in medals, distances or records and to just enjoy the overall experience and friendships that athletics have given you! You do it because you enjoy it…Hobbies and interests: I like to go to church acd youth group on the weekends, love spending time with my friends and (embarrassingly) I love to study and try hard in school…Other Sports: playing basketball, netball, tennis, swimming, and dancing…Education: in 2023 Year 12 at Ringwood Secondary College…Biggest challenge faced: managing a back injury because it has been very physically and mentally challenging…Hero: shot put world record holder Ryan Crouser @ 23 August 2024 david.tarbotton@athletics.org.au
