She moved to America in 2004 to study a Masters of Education on scholarship at the Butler University, Indianapolis. While studying in the USA she competed at the World University Games in 2005 and the 2006 Commonwealth Games where she placed fourth in the 3000m steeplechase.
2006 was also the year that she set her personal bests for the 3000m steeple, mile, 3000m and 5000m. She was fourth in the World Cup final in the Athens Olympic Stadium. She competed at the Beijing Olympics Games in 2008 before a break from the national team.
In 2014 she was selected for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, placing ninth. Over the next three years, she completed at all three global meets, 2015 World Championships, 2016 Rio Olympics and 2017 World Championships, placing 10th or 11th in her heat. Also in 2017, she won her fourth national title, her first being 14 years earlier in 2003.
At the 2018 Australian Championships, she defended her national title and her win locked up automatic selection for her third Commonwealth Games.
