The Australian Sports Commission’s ‘Sporting Schools’ program, offers students in primary and high schools across the country access to sport based activities before, during or after school. Sporting Schools is a $160 million Australian Government initiative designed to help schools to increase children's participation in sport, and to connect them with community sporting opportunities.
Athletics Australia is delighted to offer its Sporting Schools programs as an introduction to team-based activities, in an age appropriate format focused on fun and keeping kids moving. The focus of the program is on skill development, building a generation of active, healthy, sport loving children whilst most importantly having fun.
Athletics Australia delivers IAAF Kids’ Athletics (Primary School Program) and Active Aths (High School Program) through the Sporting Schools program. We are currently seeking coaches to become accredited to assist in delivering these programs around the country. All coaches involved in delivering programs will be paid for their involvement.
To be accredited to coach as part of the Sporting Schools Athletics program, you need to be:
· An athletics coach with a current accreditation from Athletics Australia*, OR;
· A registered teacher
If you are one of the above categories, all you need to do is to complete a four-hour upskilling course conducted by your state member association and have a current Working with Children Check for your state or territory.
